| Rock art includes petroglyphs which are designs pecked into rock, and pictographs made by applying dyes onto rock surfaces. The glyphs do not make up a formal language, rather they represent the rich spiritual symbolism of Native American peoples. Some are shamanistic in nature, where guidance was being sought from spirit helpers. Visiting rock art sites helps me envision a time when people weren't so hypnotized by the outward reality and appearances of the world around us. | ||||||
